Happy New Crafty Year!

So the new year has begun and already the the projects are starting to pile up.  A friend gave me a 2013 knitting calendar with patterns to make throughout the year (100+ patterns).  She literally ran out of her house with it as I was passing by while walking my dog!  So I felt obliged to get right to it and start with a new pair of socks for her.  I am a little over half way through with the first sock.

I am also going to joing a quilt along and possibly a quilting bee.  As I received some generous gift cards to the local quilting supply store for Christmas I figured that there is no time like the present to put them to good use!  The quilt along start this week so I shall have to post pictures soon of the fabric selection.  Can’t wait!

The holidays were peaceful and pleasant at our house.  Everyone recieved exactly what they wanted – Mostly because the gift lists were VERY short and VERY specific.  There were a few surprises tho – Like the “Papa’s Cooking Show” apron for Tom and new socks for Ansley and Tierney.  I got a Wii Fit which I have been using religiously and trying to shed a few pounds.  So far so good.  I actually do feel much better for the exercise – even tho it is not very strenuous.  I am walking on my treadmill and doing some core work and yoga as well so hopefully by summer people won’t have to run in horror when I stroll around the backyard pool in my bathing suit!

Tom and I are also gearing up for the new season out at the farm.  He is going to be planting lots of flowers this year – along with the veggies – to give away to charity groups who can then sell them as a way to raise funds.  We’ll see how this works – I am a little skeptical…..  I am going to stick with the veggies.  I will be cutting down on varieties this year and planting larger amounts of things I know we will use or that friends have expressed interest in.  I ended up with to many veggies last year that  just went to waste – and then didn’t get  as much as I wanted of others….   Hopefully we will have a better growing season this year – not so hot and dry!

Hope everyone is starting out the new year on a happy note – and for your enjoyment

About thecraftyfarmer

I love a project - and I always have tons of them going at the same time - Sometimes it is hard to prioritize, but the usual order of importance generally looks like this: PROJECT 1) My relationship with my exceptionally wonderful husband PROJECT 2) The raising of my four children - the oldest just done with college, the second about to go off to college, a high schooler, and a middle schooler PROJECT 3) Keeping up with my mother and my friends PROJECT 4) Growing and cooking healthy food for my family and friends PROJECT 5) Sewing, knitting, repurposing furniture, or other crafty endeavors PROJECT 6) Playing with my constant shadow - the family (?) dog PROJECT 7) Looking after our house in the suburbs and our farmhouse ........ PROJECT 999) Keeping up with the 12 loads of laundry I seem to have every week!
